Tine de-thatchers do a gentle job of bringing matted layers of thatch and large clippings to the surface for a healthy lawn. Like fingers, 3/16in. diameter tines lift out matted layers of thatch and large clippings. Use de-thatchers in the spring, midsummer and fall to bring life and color back to your lawn. Use an Agri-Fab lawn sweeper for easy removal of thatch and yard waste after dethatching.

Perfect tool for the job Sep 08, 2004
I bought this Agri-Fab lawn dethatcher to bring my lawn back to life, and found it to be the perfect tool for the job. This is the smallest lawn dethatcher offered by Agri-Fab, but I found it to perform brilliantly on my 1 acre lawn.

The tool arrived on my doorstep requiring some simple assembly. It took about 45 minutes to fully unpack and assemble the product. The packaging was very good, and I felt that it offered great protection during shipping. The user manual is also the assembly guide, and I had no issues with the documentation. The documentation was available in both English and Spanish. Once assembled, the tool is not meant to be folded away or taken apart again, so make sure you have a safe place to store it. The dethatching tines are steel, and can be dangerous!

The dethatcher is fully adjustable to fit your tractor or mower hitch, and the tines are further adjustable to provide the right amount of "bite" into your lawn. The dethatcher accepts standard accessory weights if you wish to add more cutting depth to the tines. The skids on the tool work very well, especially on my hard clay soil.

I found the product to work as expected, and it far surpassed my expectations of such a small and inexpensive unit. I would recommend buying the right tool for the job however, so if you have a lawn over 1 acre, or a larger tractor, you'd be better off buying a larger dethatcher. Agri-Fab has many to choose from.

My lawn consists of Zoysia grass which is very dense and builds up thatch quite easily. I dethatch twice a year, and remove about 12 bushels of material each time. Agri-Fab has provided me with a durable and inexpensive tool to complete my job. I highly recommend this one folks... five stars all the way!
